User Settings

Licensed customers can also set up and configure their own logo of up to 32 x 32 pixels via the website. See news story on how to set up custom logo.

Show Alarm Icon - When selected a small  g  icon will show if active Alarms are currently set.

Show Battery Icon - When selected a small icon  a  b  c  d  e  will appear to show battery status. When battery drops below 10% the battery empty icon  e  will change colour to same colour as the numbers.

Show Phone Connected Icon - When selected a small  j  icon will appear to show the watch is connected to the phone.

Show Notification Icon - When selected a small  t  or  u  icon will appear to show that unread notifications exist.

Second Hand - There are 3 options for the second hand:

  1. Off - The second hand will not be shown, even in gesture mode.
  2. Always On (max 4 colours) - The second hand will always be shown. If the 'Power Save during Do Not Disturb' is set then the second hand will be turned off. The 'Always on' option is not supported across all devices so it will only appear if supported on your device. There is also a limit of 4 colours with this option. If you exceed the 4 colours the second hand will switch back to only on with gesture/ movement.
  3. On with Gesture / Movement - Shows the second hand when you lift your hand to check time. When the device switches back to low power mode the second hand will be hidden.

Power Save in Do Not Disturb (DND) Mode - When this feature is turned on the watch face will go into power saving mode whilst the Do Not Disturb mode is set. In this mode the second hand will be turned off and the web communication to check the current profile to be applied (for those people who have purchased an Activation Key) will be deactivated. Both these features will be automatically tuned on again when the watch switches out of Do Not Disturb mode.

The 'Home' hand is a special feature that allows you to display another hour hand to show the time in a alternative time zone. If you set the 'Home Time Zone' to be UTC+2 then when ever you are outside that zone the additional hour hand will be displayed. This is especially useful for frequent travelers as they can set the 'Home' time zone and then whenever they are outside that zone an additional hand will be displayed to show the time at home.

An alternative colour can be used for the 'Home' hand as well as displayed in 24 hour format for those devices that have a 24 hour bezel on the outside of the watch.

Home Time Zone set to 'None'

Home Time Zone to show GMT+7

Home Time Zone - Select the alternate time zone to be used for your 'Home Time Zone'. If you wish to turn this feature off set the Home Time Zone to 'None'.

When the Home Time Zone is set an additional hour hand will appear to show the time in that zone. This additional 'home hand' will only be displayed when you are not in that zone.

The 'Home Time Zone' can be set to any other time zone in order to display the time in that zone if you wish. In that case it would be hidden if you ever traveled to that zone.

Show Home hand as 24 Hour Clock - Show the additional hand as a '24' hour hand. For example when it is 6am in your Home time zone the additional hand would appear at the 3 o'clock position. Tis is useful for devices with a 24 hour bezel on the outer dial.

DST Rule Home Time Zone - Select the Daylight Saving Time (DST) rule that applies to your home time zone. This will automatically control adjusting time on your home time zone.

Home Time Zone Colour AM - Select the colour for the additional 3rd home time zone hand when it is AM in the home zone. This makes it easier to read time for alternate time zones and understand if it is morning or after 12pm.

Home Time Zone Colour PM - Select the colour for the additional 3rd home time zone hand when it is PM in the home zone. This makes it easier to read time for alternate time zones and understand if it is morning or after 12pm.

GMT4 watches faces can display an additional 2 alternative times zones. For each time zone you can define the offset from UTC, the name of the time zone and if daylight savings rules are to be applied.

Time Zone Name - User defined name for the time zone. This can be blank, if a name is entered it will be used as a label on the appropriate dials. A maximum of 10 characters are allowed.

Time Zone - Alternate time zone offset from UTC time.

Time Zone DST Rule - Select the Daylight Saving Time (DST) rule that applies to the alternate time zone. This will automatically control adjusting time in that zone.

Position minor dials at 9, 12 and 6 o'clock

Dial Size - 2 dial sizes are supported. On larger watch faces such as Fenix 3 HR, Fenix Chronos, etc the user selected dials can be larger. Using the smaller dials does allow more space on the watch face for some of the bigger number fonts. Selecting larger dials on smaller watch faces or semi-round devices may overlap with other features or get trimmed at the bottom of the display. They are still available for use as it is up to you to define the look of your watch.

Dial size small (9 o'clock) and large can be mixed.

Using large dial and 'digital' dial on semi-round device

Note 1: for battery performance reasons Heart Rate is taken from most recent entry in history file. This is close to current but may vary slightly.

Note 2: Not all dials are supported on all devices. Content will vary depending on Garmin support for various features and versions of software development kit. See Support page for details.

Note 3: From release 4.7.1 the first dial drawn with the Activity will show the current steps as a percentage of the daily goal. If a second Activity style dial is shown then it will display the active minutes for the week as a percentage of your weekly goal. For example if you are using the two dials, Activity with Heart Rate and Activity with Active Calories, the first dial will show your step goal for the day and the second dial the active minutes goal for the week.

Note 4: The indicator on the Day and Date Dial will normally be drawn in red (see Example 1 below). If you have a watch that supports the 'always on' second hand and have used 4 colours in your colour scheme then the indicator will be drawn using the same colour as the minor dial hand (see Example 2 below).

Note 5: This option has been removed as from release 4.8 since it is not widely used and extra memory is required to support the new seconds dial.

Example 3

GMT4 watch faces support a number of different features to control the style for the major hands including colour, size and format.

Use Large Pivot for Hands - When set the pivot at the center of the watch will be slightly larger than the width of the hands. When disabled the pivot will be smaller, giving the view that hands are pinned to the face.

Extended Hands - When set the hands will extend past the center of the watch face. Gives a more balance look to some styles of hands.

Hand Style - Select style to be used for hands on the watch face

Select Hand style from 7 available styles

Hand Width - set width for hands from Extra Narrow, Narrow, Normal or Wide.

Width of Hands can be 4 different sizes.

Style for Number Style - set if numbers should be displayed on watch face or if a single, double or triangle shape indicator should be used.

No Numbers, single indicator

No Numbers, double indicator

No Numbers, triangle indicator

Show 12 o'clock only

Show major numbers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock

Show even numbers only

Show all numbers

Using small dials allows room for indicator to be drawn for numbers.

Note: On devices that are not round (eg. Forerunner 230/ 235) some of these styles may cause an overlap on the display with the alarm indicator if this is enabled as there is not enough space on screen to show these. On smaller screens selecting the no numbers or major numbers only option looks the best.

Number Font - select the font to be used for numbers.

Select from 8 different font styles available for numbers

Most features for GMT 4 watch faces are supported in the free version except those that require the website. There is a 30 day free trial period to use the additional features after which you must pay. This is to cover the cost of building and maintaining the website in a hosted platform. You can purchase a key by going to the GMT 4 Master Configuration page and following the instructions to sign in and purchase a key.
